What is expected:

Recent studies have indicated that there is increased chance of hurricane activity.

In a July 2001 Research Study, published in Science Magazine, it was predicted that the US is expected to have increased hurricane activity for the next 10 to 40 years. This is based on historical data, the current warm waters in the Atlantic and decreased shear winds

These numbers reflect a predicted ACE index value in the range 100%-160% of the median, which means above-normal activity expected this year.

Get ready now! Scientists are calling for above-average activity this year as well, predicting 17 named tropical storms, nine hurricanes and five major hurricanes – Category three or higher.
